POST KS 10: Pencils down.
over 2 years ago – Mon, Oct 16, 2023 at 11:09:49 AM

A hasty message. Pencils are DOWN*.

What does this mean? There is no more adding to be done to this book. I am currently in the final editing pass, scanning through the around 20k words over and over to make sure I don't miss a thing! Once that is finished the PDF copies will be sent out to you backers while I lock down the store and send in the print runs! So expect to finally have the PDF, (and more in-depth "onward to fulfillment" update before next week. Thank you all for your patience!

Post KS 9: Update and adjustments!
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 28, 2023 at 09:57:45 AM

Hey folks, now that we are nearing the end of September another update is due! Writing was finished on time at the end of August and focus has just been on finalizing typesetting for our added pages. The bad news is I am still not finished at that stage. The final pages I am laying out are for the “grand dungeon” of the book, Hell's Kitchen. What was originally a 10 page adventure is now 28 pages. I understand I mentioned I wouldn’t be adding more content to the book in the final stretch, but in our playtests I found the adventure needed a little more space and a little more flavor to end up being a unique and fun encounter, and simply smoother for the DM to run. So while I’ve been working on that this month, I am set to finish laying those out within the next week or two. At that point the final pages are sent to my editor for a final pass. Note that most of the book has already been edited as I send each page over the second it is done, so there won’t be a long gap needed to modify these final edits. At that point (within the next 2-3 weeks) you will be sent the PDFs as the final orders are sent to print.

As we are weeks away from dropping the PDF, and sending these to print I am opting not to include any more photo teasers to leave the rest for the final reveal. Instead, enjoy the table of contents to get your appetites brewing!

Within 216 pages, and just shy of 22,000 words. All your cannibal desires will be fulfilled!

More Monsters, more Minis!
over 2 years ago – Mon, Aug 28, 2023 at 06:11:51 AM

A little diversion from your regularly scheduled cannibalism to announce the launch of our next wave of miniatures. We are returning to Apocrypha for my next wave of fantasy horror sculpts. But this time we return with amazingly talented guest sculptors! @gardensofhecate who sculpted Baron Heneberg and an Ancestor, @atelier.ag who sculpted The Jackalope, and our surprise guest, none other than @boris_woloszyn whose insanely amazing sculpt is our largest mini to date!

Check out  Tales From Apocrypha Wave 2: Beasts & Bastards on Gamefound if you’re looking for a selection of beasts and bastards for the tabletop!

https://gamefound.com/projects/flagellant-and-the-fool/tales-from-apocrypha-wave-2--beasts--bastards?refcode=hZLFIQoZ_U-KEqBLYKPAOA

Note that although this wave has launched, all the sculpts are with the casters and are being handled by them from here, so this won’t be effecting my timeline to complete Smorgasborg… In fact I am finishing the last piece of art (an isometric dungeon kitchen) as I type this! Keep you eyes out later this week for another update on the book. Thanks!

POST KS 8: It's beginning to smell a lot like cannibals.
over 2 years ago – Fri, Aug 11, 2023 at 12:34:42 PM

Hey folk! Coming in hot with a post-Gencon update. To wind down the project.

What started as a 72-page book has grown into 100 pages of pure charnel delights! This well-worth-it bloat did slightly shift my timeline as any chance to make the book better over faster I took. This added page count is why I have been mostly all hands on deck the past two months and have had minimal updates. But as we are nearing the September due date I wanted to take a step back and let you know where we were at.

First, the miniatures and dice.

As stated previously I have all of those in hand and they are ready to go after the books arrive. I opted to bundle everything in one box to minimize the shipping costs for you folks.

Second, the book.

The last of the added page layouts will be done by the end of the month, though I have been working through the nights to try and get that done even sooner.  This does mean my timeline has shifted a couple of weeks so the updated shipping date is changing from "Early September" to "Late September". This change means that...

Smorgasborg will be in your hands anywhere From the end of September, to the beginning of October.

My goal is to get that as early as possible, especially for those of you who like playing your most horrible of horror games throughout October.

Third, the PDFs.

The good news is PDFs will be released much sooner than that. So the second the book is sent to be printed I will be updating you again on that, and releasing the PDF copy to you all. Note these will NOT be circulated for sale until I can confirm every backer has their book first. Expect this in early September.

Fourth, Cannibal Country PDFs.

The Forbidden Psalm expansion is the last thing to be completed. This is natural because it is an adaptation of our main book. Though I have already started work on it, it won't be finalized until after Will gets his hands on it.  The PDF will be sent to him at the end of the month. And it will be quick work once he's through. More updates on that as it progresses.

Fifth, to those who only purchased minis.

This is mostly those who purchased Cannibal Country. Your minis will be boxed up and sent out come September.

Lastly, shipping order.

Though I will be shipping things "at the same time", we have enough different bundles that I wanted to clarify my process for you now, as once things start arriving I will be focused on getting it out the door.

  • First, those who purchased ONLY minis, or ONLY minis and a PDF.  This will be the only one shipped out in early September. The others will be shipped within 1-3 weeks of each other as the books start arriving.
  • Next is all zine, and hardback backers. Whether with or without minis.
  • Next will be the faux leather limited backers. These take a little longer than the other books to make since they are a specialty small-batch print run.
  • Next will be the hand-painted cover backers. These wraps are on the faux leather books, so they have to wait until those come in.
  • Lastly are the backers who ordered painted minis. Though I have already started on the paint jobs for those, I am expecting to ship these last just to make sure no flick of paint is rushed.

As a FINAL REMINDER (you will also get an email about this), make sure your addresses are correct by the end of the month, I will be locking them on September 1st so I can start prepping packages.

Thank you all for your patience, I cannot wait to see what mess you get into!

POST KS 7: Arm to Table (CORPSE HARVESTING!)
almost 3 years ago – Thu, Jun 22, 2023 at 07:30:28 AM

When we first started, this book was a 56-page treat, but over the course of the Kickstarter and creative bloat, we now have a 96-page feast of an expansion book! To make up for that near doubling I've started working with the talented indie rpg-er Steven Zych ( https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/23302/Steven-Zych ) to help tackle typesetting the expanded pages to try and get this thing sent to print asap! Here's an example of that collaboration.

Whether you are a cannibal or a collector... who doesn't need a body harvesting table? Dig in!
